Get to know me

Hey, my name is Nawns

Dosha, medanaagi me'?cirooga hi ma'aduush Awaxe'. Mic Arumaaguxdísh. Mara'ashi mashi iire ita Nevaeh 'Nawns' Quarry he'ec.

Good day, I'm a member of Flint Knife clan, and I'm a child of Dripping Dirt Clan. My Hidasta name is The One That Helps Others. My English name is Nevaeh 'Nawns' Quarry.

I’m a photographer, graphic designer, and web designer based on the Fort Berthold Reservation. As an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes (Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara) I use my creativity to tell stories, support my community, and preserve culture. Currently, I’m redesigning of the official MHA Nation website while also taking on freelance projects in photography and graphic design.

Alongside my work, I’m a full-time student at Nueta, Hidatsa, Sahnish College, pursuing an associate degree in computer science. My goal is to build websites and apps that connect MHA members and teach our youth different ways to learn our culture.

My photography journey has taken me through landscapes, lifestyle, events, and portraits, but I’m especially drawn to portrait and dreamscape-style work. I’m still exploring and refining my style, and I enjoy discovering new ways to capture both personally and story.

Events are my favorite to photograph, from powwows, rodeos, and other types of events. There’s nothing better than freezing those natural smiles, bursts of laughter, and carefree moments that show the true moments of the day.
